I'm so glad you're here. My name is Natalie Foster, and I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor and EMDR Certified Therapist in Scottsdale, Arizona. I work with adults who want to better understand themselves, heal from past experiences, improve their relationships, and create meaningful change in their lives.

I believe our stories shape us, but they don't have to define us. The experiences we've had, the relationships we've been part of, and the messages we've learned about ourselves can influence how we think, feel, and respond to the world around us. Sometimes, the patterns that once helped us navigate difficult experiences continue to affect us long after those experiences have passed.

My work is centered on helping you understand those patterns, reconnect with your strengths, and develop the freedom to respond differently to yourself, your relationships, and your life.

A Little About Me

I've spent over a decade working in the mental health field across inpatient and outpatient settings. Throughout my career, I've worked with adults navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, addiction, relationship challenges, grief and loss, boundaries, and self-esteem.

These experiences have shaped the way I approach therapy and reinforced my belief that people are capable of meaningful growth when they have the right support, tools, and space to understand themselves.

I know that reaching out for therapy can feel like a big step. You may have spent years trying to figure things out on your own, reading the books, doing the self-reflection, or talking through your experiences with people you trust. You might understand why you respond the way you do and still find yourself repeating the same patterns.

You don't have to wait until things fall apart to seek support. Therapy can be a space to explore what's underneath those patterns, work through what still hurts, and build a life that feels more connected to who you want to be.

My Approach to Therapy

My approach is trauma-informed, collaborative, and tailored to your individual needs. I believe therapy should go beyond simply managing symptoms or talking about what's happening in your life. While understanding your experiences is important, we also want to explore how those experiences continue to influence your present.

Together, we'll look at the beliefs, emotions, and protective patterns that may be affecting how you see yourself and relate to others. We'll work to understand where those patterns came from, recognize what they may have been helping you manage, and determine what needs to change so you can move forward differently.

I value both compassion and accountability. Healing requires a space where you feel understood and supported, while also having the opportunity to challenge old beliefs, take responsibility for your choices, and practice new ways of responding.

My goal isn't to change who you are. It's to help you understand yourself more deeply, recognize your strengths, and create more freedom in how you live your life.

How I Can Help

I work with adults experiencing a variety of challenges, including:

Trauma and complex trauma: Past experiences can continue to affect your sense of safety, self-worth, emotions, and relationships. Therapy can help you process what you've experienced and develop new ways of responding to the present.

Relationships and attachment: If you find yourself repeating relationship patterns, struggling with boundaries, fearing vulnerability, or having difficulty trusting others, we can explore how your experiences have shaped the way you connect.

Anxiety and emotional overwhelm: You may feel constantly on guard, overthink decisions, struggle to slow down, or feel responsible for holding everything together. Therapy can help you understand these responses and develop healthier ways to navigate them.

High achievers and perfectionism: You can be successful, motivated, and capable while still struggling with unrealistic expectations, self-criticism, or the feeling that you're never doing enough. Therapy can help you continue pursuing your goals without sacrificing your well-being or relationships.

Addiction and loved ones affected by addiction: Whether you're navigating your own relationship with substances or trying to understand how someone else's addiction has affected you, therapy can provide space to explore patterns, boundaries, and the path forward.

Grief, loss, and life transitions: Significant changes and losses can affect how you see yourself and your future. Therapy can help you make room for difficult emotions while finding your footing in what comes next.

Christian Counseling:

For those who wish to incorporate their Christian faith into therapy, I offer a space where psychological healing and biblical wisdom can work together. We can explore how your experiences, beliefs, and patterns connect with your faith while working toward healing, healthier relationships, and lasting change.

You don't need to fit neatly into one of these categories to benefit from therapy. Sometimes, you simply know that something doesn't feel right or that you want your life and relationships to feel different.

Finding the Right Approach for You

There isn't one approach that works for everyone. That's why I draw from several therapeutic modalities and tailor our work to your needs, goals, and experiences.

I am EMDR certified and also incorporate approaches such as Post Induction Therapy (PIT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Motivational Interviewing, and strengths-based therapy.

EMDR can help you process difficult experiences that continue to affect you today. PIT focuses on understanding how early family experiences may have shaped your beliefs, emotional patterns, and relationships. Other approaches can help you develop practical skills, strengthen emotional regulation, and build healthier ways of relating to yourself and others.

You don't need to know which approach is right for you before starting. We'll work together to determine what best supports your goals.

I also offer EMDR intensives for adults who may benefit from extended sessions rather than relying exclusively on the traditional weekly therapy format. Intensives provide dedicated time for focused therapeutic work, with an approach tailored to your needs and readiness.

What Can You Expect When Working With Me?

I want therapy to feel like a place where you can be honest about what you're experiencing without feeling judged. You don't have to have the right words, know exactly where to begin, or understand every part of your story.

We'll start by exploring what's bringing you to therapy, what you've been struggling with, and what you'd like to change. From there, we'll develop a plan that reflects your needs and work together at a pace that supports meaningful progress.

I'll help you connect the dots between your past and present, recognize patterns that may no longer serve you, and develop the skills and understanding needed to respond differently.

My hope is that, over time, you'll feel more connected to yourself, more confident in your choices, and better equipped to navigate your emotions and relationships. The goal isn't simply to feel better temporarily. It's to create change that carries into your everyday life.

Taking the First Step

You don't have to have everything figured out before beginning therapy. You don't need to know exactly what you want to work on or be able to explain why you feel the way you do.

Maybe you've been struggling for a long time. Maybe things look good from the outside, but something still feels missing. Or maybe you're ready to understand yourself and your relationships on a deeper level.

Wherever you are in your journey, there's room to start.

I offer in-person therapy in Scottsdale, Arizona, as well as virtual therapy for adults located throughout Arizona. I also offer EMDR intensives for those seeking a more focused format of care.

If you're ready to explore whether therapy might be a good fit, I invite you to schedule a free consultation. We can talk about what you're looking for, answer your questions, and determine whether working together feels right.

Your story matters. It has shaped you, but it doesn't have to determine what comes next.

I'm glad you're here, and I'd be honored to be part of your journey toward greater understanding, connection, and lasting change.
